I painted this while studying art history, it is part of a series of figurative abstractions inspired by the sculptures and Roman frieze work in Italy.Similar to the crosses series, some of the imagery is taken from religious Italian renaiassance relief works, while the style is expressionst and concerned with color, texture, movement and emotional intensity.

Hello Lori, it’s Kate from your advising group. Found your art page via our class system forum. Your paintings are very colorful (I always love color). If you are ever interested in selling your paintings let me know. My Dad and I collect art and as he always bugs me about what I want for birthdays and Christmas presents, I think now I actually have some sort of cool idea. So, if you have a CD or place where I could see all your work for purchase let me know. Bring some art to the gallery this residency if they aren't too big or heavy (I know all of us at school would love to see it!) Take care….hope to see you at residency if you're going to the first one.
Kate~
I loved looking at your paintings, Lori! I didn't know you were an artist and such a good one at that.
I really like your work; the colors are wonderful. Terry Patterson (from your Fall 06 study group)
